Weak or Strong?

He will gather the lambs in His arms!

So often we want to do great things for God, we make great sacrifices, we become very passionate about God things, yet something is wrong and we realize that while we are busy with God’s things we are hurting and lonely inside. Anyone who wishes to do great things for God, must first receive great things from Him. Ignoring the needs in our own hearts may sound heroic, but until we see how little and needy we are, we will not in turn have anything timeless to give to others. We are vessels of clay and if we are to do anything great we must have a rich treasure within us (2 Cor 4:7). It is only through the rich treasure within us that we will produce the fruit that is eternal!

However, if we do not see our Father in heaven as someone who delights to help us overcome our weakness, we will continue to wallow in our weakness. If we see Him as someone who is angry with us whenever we are weak and needy, it will be difficult for us to turn to Him for help with our weaknesses. If we believe God would never indwell a simple jar of clay; if we believe He would never delight in helping me with my weaknesses, then we will be left empty and weak!

Isaiah 40:11

He will tend his flock like a shepherd; he will gather the lambs in his arms; he will carry them in his bosom, and gently lead those that are with young. (ESV)

2 Cor 12:10  For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong (ESV).
